Making Cents
This program is only offered as after-school programs in select/registered schools.
If your school would like to offer this program, please contact us.
Level 1
This program teaches your child the link between money and work, saving and spending, sharing and giving back. In Level 1, your child will “earn” income through fun career role-playing activities. Then, the students learn how to deposit, save, and earn interest in their own pretend bank account at our unique Walter’s FUNtastic Bank. Money math is based on 10’s and 100’s so your child can relate values – $1, $10, $100 – to the real world. Just as importantly, your child learn about giving back through volunteerism. In addition to your child receiving a KMCents certificate upon completion of this level, special memos are sent to you, the Chief Financial Parent, with tips on how to enhance the money lessons at home.
Level 2
Level 2 continues to build the money lessons by relating $5, $50, $500 to the real world. Your child will learn about life’s basic needs—and what they cost. The students get to play at doing a job, earning money from it, and watching their account at Walter’s FUNtastic Bank grow and earn interest. Then, they learn to make withdrawals and experience buying needs such as grocery shopping. In addition to your child receiving a KMCents Certificate upon completion of this program, special memos are sent to you, the Chief Financial Parent, with tips on how to enhance the money lessons at home.
